I made this hand-stitched reduction linocut on chipboard for the 2013 OCAC Print Portfolio. I really love participating in exchanges; it’s so wonderful to share work.
(This week I’m working on photographing all the things I made last semester and posting them to the website.)
You guys. Check out this cuteness, one of seven new card designs. In the last two weeks, I’ve printed more than twelve hundred cards. I’ll print some postcards in the next couple days, so there’s still more printing to do.
And, on Tuesday night 6-8pm, there will be a reception! We’ll be printing take away postcards and having snacks and drinking wine. Coastal Georgia friends, I’d love to see you!
I’m already about halfway through my time here at Ashantilly, whooaa. I feel like I can’t set type or print fast enough. So much to explore and print!
Top to bottom:
More cards, ready to be folded. Look at those sweet birds.
Today I tackled setting the Bembo (but, alas, didn’t get to the italic).
I found the sweetest box of linocuts, possibly by Anne Lee? We’re not sure how old they are (maybe sixties or seventies?), or what they were used for.
This tympan has lived a life. We have exactly three registration pins in the shop right now, that I can find(!).
And, we had a big ol’ rainstorm today.
For a postcard exchange.
Lately I’ve been trying to have a two day turnaround on my prints. Just for fun, just to see what happens.
Today I made my print for Velociprints.
I continue to be enamored with letterpress – so speedy! (Compared to hand brayering, of course.)
There will be a ride with Gary Fisher (whaaat) ending at Borderlands Brewery for a preview of a few prints, including the one I made today, on Wednesday, October 17th.
Tucson folks, SEE YOU THERE.
You guys. I just realized I’ve been wrapped up in string imagery (and actual physical string) since May. Time to depart, I think.
Here’s a new little linocut.
Little letterpressed lino prints.
The WPA is live printing next weekend with Joseph Velasquez of Drive-By Press at Nightmare on Congress, so I’m busy making WPA business cards and little linos to letterpress print in preparation.
Hello… abstraction? For the cover of a new little do-si-do book about home and leaving home.
